The Long Walk written by Richard Bachman aka Stephen King is a very DARK, post apocalyptic/dystopian fiction (or is it) short story that will leave you gutted. 100 boys around the age of 16 to 19 must walk (without stopping) until there is only one left. The one remaining is then given anything he wants for the rest of his life. If one stops walking or is unable to continue they "get their ticket". This book is not for the weak. It's very hard to listen to/read. It's brutal, unfair and graphic. BE WARNED.
I have now "consumed" this book in three forms, on the page when I was in college (cut class for two days to read it), as a movie adaptation with my daughter (that was a very intense experience as a parent) and as an audiobook (the pain, darkness and fear was INTENSE). This book has been in my life for over 40 years and I don't think it will ever leave me.
RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
