Intro: No Fear Sock Knitting Class Online

In this episode you will find all the information you need to join my online sock class, the No Fear Sock Knitting Class. There is also detailed information about the outline for the class, bonus episodes, Sock News and the Sock Doc!!

It's time to learn to knit socks!!!

Class 1: Getting Started

In this class we cover all the basics you will need to get stared on your sock knitting journey. There were so many questions about needles, yarn and supples that I thought it best to address this first so everyone would be prepared and ready to start sock knitting in the next class.

Class 2: Casting On

We are finally getting to the good stuff! This class will cover learning the 2 circular needle method and the Magic Loop method of knitting socks. I've covered how to cast on, how to arrange your stitches and how to begin knitting on the cuff.

Class 3: The Leg and Reading Patterns

In this class we cover the leg of the sock, adjusting the length of the leg, reading patterns and measuring vs. counting. There is a demonstration/tutorial at the end to show the difference between measuring and counting rounds/rows.

Class 4: The Heel on Two Circular Needles

In this class we cover the long awaited, much anticipated, very feared sock heel! But things are about to change. Today I’m going to teach you how to knit a perfect, hole-free heel flap and gusset. I’m beyond excited because I’m hoping this tutorial will give you the tools to overcome the fear and frustration that holds so many knitters back. Each step in the process, heel flap, heel turn, and gusset will be covered slowly (I’m talking snail’s pace) and clearly to walk you through and get those heels knitted.

Class 5: The Heel on Magic Loop

Class 6: The Foot and The Toe

In this class we cover the foot length and making adjustments, "knitting to desired length" and what that means and toe decreases both wedge and round. I also cover other topics like, dye lots, washing and blocking socks and adjusting toe decreases for the shape of your foot.

Class 6A: The Kitchener Stitch

In this class we cover the Kitchener Stitch. There are two methods to this technique that I will go over in detail. The Kitchener stitch is basically weaving in a line of knit stitches to close the toe of a top down sock. It can also be used in other areas of knitted garments.

In this class we learn how to use shadow wraps in a Shadow Wrap Short Row Heel. This heel is knit with a series of twin and triple stitches to "build" each side of the short row heel.
