With the exception of my father I don’t think anyone really understands the thrill I get when I learn something new. I want to talk about, write about, practice it, and most of all tell everyone who will stand still about it.
Well last night as I was “surfing the web” from the comfort of my bed I saw this video that was posted by The Loopy Ewe on Facebook. (Can we digress for a moment? I know Facebook is pure evil to many people but depending on how you choose to you it, it can be a mecca for information in your areas of interest.)
Some of you may say…been there, done that but I was blow away!!! There are hundreds of ways to cast on and bind off stitches in knitting but I’ve never seen or heard of this one!!!!!
The name of it is a bit awful in my opinion, The Chinese Waitress Cast On but the technique is so unique (to me). The knitter in the video says she learned the technique from Cap Sease’s book.
Since the original posting an update has been released…
Hope you enjoy the vids as much as I did.
And here are some socks for you using the tried and true, long tail cast on. I finished these on our last mini vacation.
The pattern is my usual Vanilla Socks…No deviation!!! Lots of wonderful mindless knitting!
The yarn is kind of new by Manos del Uruguay called Alegria. Very beautiful, it does split a little while knitting but still worth it!!
Now I have to cast on another pair asap to try my newly discovered cast on!!! Maybe fingerless mitts this time. More mindlessness but shorter and faster!!
And tell me what you think of the cast on!! You know I love hearing from you. And remember if you leave a comment I do reply within the comment box!!!
