In 2005 I attended Knitting Camp and met a woman named Caryn. That was the one and only time (so far) that we’ve actually seen other. In the 6 years since a wonderful friendship has developed, full of all the caring and support and “being there” for each other that an “in-the-flesh” relationship would have.
When I got engaged in the fall of 2005, she knitted this for me.
When Kira was born in 2009 this beauty showed up in the mail. Wow!
So when I read (thank God for blogs) that the adoption of her beautiful son had finally gone through I hit the sewing machine. Mom and Dad decided on a robot theme for the little man’s room with orange, blue and green accent colors. After carefully studying her pictures I think I my mission was accomplished.
Here’s CJ’s Bot Camp Quilt
I made it up as I went along and I’m so pleased with the results.
The only thing I would have and should have done was make it bigger. This is just shy of 36″ square.
But look at that corner…big improvement. Thank god for Teri and You Tube.
Front of the binding…
Back of the binding…even better than Slow and Steady…
And my grid is much better…thanks to 2″ painter’s tape. (I read about that on someone’s quilt blog…sorry don’t remember which). Have I said how grateful I am for the internet lately.
I guess my girl has a thing for quilts…more fuel for my fire. Caryn, I promise it was washed before mailing…
Welcome to the world CJ…you and your parents are so blessed and may the blessings continue and continue.
