I read on a blog the other day that back in the “old days” when a young girl married she was expected to have a trousseau or hope chest filled with as many as 13 quilts. 12 made in anticipation of married life and the 13th made after her betrothal was announced…or something like that.
Well I’m happy to say that my Kira will be more than prepared thanks to her knitting and now quilt-o-holic mother.
Here is KSD (my girl’s initials) quilt number 2. I did all the cutting and prepping on Monday night. Sorry about the darkness. I took this picture at night and the lighting in my dining room is awful.
And started the sewing on Tuesday…I’d love to have the entire quilt top done by weekend. Why the rush? I know I have a few years to go before Kira is of marriageable age but I can’t help myself. Who wouldn’t want to finish this? All that sweet pinkness. I’m loving it. (Day time shot)
Just a note to clarify, in the last 6 months I’ve started four quilts, completed 2 and one is in hibernation and one is under construction. I’ll post pictures of the finished 2 soon. The one in hibernation I’ve decided to hire out. I’ll explain later. Suffice it to say I bit off much more than I could chew.
Once again Chris said to me the other night, do you knit anymore? Yeah, of course I do I just haven’t finished anything lately. Why, if I’m enjoying this so much do I feel guilty…
