As I said, it was great but honestly I was so surprised by how much smaller it was this year. I had read an article about it in the NY Times, where it said that the “draw” to the Fair is not what it was. A lot of the big names pulled out or just didn’t sign on at all. But that said it was still a great show. There were 11 performers the best being Sarah herself, followed by the Indigo Girls and my new favorite Serena Ryder (I have managed to learn the words to almost her entire album already). The worst was a tie between Suzanne Vega and Cat Power. Vega was just plain ol boring while Power backed the audience and didn’t even address it almost the entire performance.
These four pictures were taken with my cell phone…not bad huh?
I love that one of Sarah (I use her first name as if she were a close friend of mine. And while it may sound super corny I feel like she is. The inside of my wedding band has lyrics from her song “Ice Cream”. If that doesn’t make a person feel close…)
Now you may be wondering why I used my cell and not a camera. I have my darling sister to thank for that. Now yes, she had my best interest at heart but…she read the venue rules that clearly stated no cameras or recording devices of any kind. So when we were parking the car she reminded me to leave the camera, which I did with much reluctance. And guess what. Every Tom, Dick and Harry or in this case Tammy, Debra and Harriet was carrying a Nikon or Canon or you name the brand. I was more than a bit disappointed but still thankful that she was looking out for me. I’ll get over it sister, don’t worry.
On to the knitting portion of the program. After all that debate I ended up taking this pair of socks. They have been on my needles for a few weeks now and I”m very much over them. They are great and super easy but the list of what I want to work on is getting longer each day and it’s time to move on to something else.
There is also a story behind these socks which I’ll share soon. I’m actually dying to write about it but not yet (as I was told). Stay tuned.
And in case anyone is wondering yes that it a plastic guitar filled with frozen Strawberry Daquiri….YUM. My nursing days are just about done…And Mumma wanted a drink!!!! It was so good.
Thanks for an awesome day sista…love ya!!
