Whenever I start a pair of socks I think, no rush this is my companion project so when it gets done it gets done. But I always reach a point when I get sick of seeing them and must have them off my needles. That’s how I felt about this pair. These were started in the beginning of December. I love the yarn, enjoyed my little touches/experiments and the color is beautiful but I’m done now.
Three nights ago while watching the inauguration ball (The Neighborhood Ball) I plowed through and was grafting by about 9:50pm. Finally a president worth looking to for leaderhip and finally a finished item for 2009. I know…no comparison what so ever but I felt really good about both.
Yarn: Socks That Rock Lightweight “Mill Ends” (purchased from The Fold at the 2008 NYS Sheep and Wool Festival)
Amount: Just under one full skein, (360 yds total)
Thoughts: Love the tubular cast on.
It is definitely the one I will use from now on for a 1×1 rib. That clean, professional looking edge is irrisistible to me.
Here’s the dutch heel. I’ve seen it on Nancy Bush socks over the years and really liked the look of it but the fit is a bit shallow for my tastes. You can really see in this gusset shot.
Yes, I’ll wear the socks (hee, hee) but I don’t think I’ll use that heel again. It is pretty though.
Some may say this is a cheat since I started them last year but…right now I don’t really care. I just had to finish something and post some actual knitting.
Feeling so much better now.
Have a great weekend everyone. I’m off to knit and see more Oscar contenders….
