It’s been a year!! And yes, it sounds cliche to say but I honestly have no idea where the time went. Three years ago when I went to knitting camp for the first time I met Caryn. It was instant connection and we’ve been in touch every since. It was to her that I first mentioned my desire to have a blog (her’s is great and I love the new layout) but I had no idea how to do it, where to begin, nothing. I didn’t have a clue, so the idea lanquished. Then I met Michelle. This wonderful lady stopped by the shop one day and again instant connection. She works with computers and is a knitter. She was more than happy to help me get up and running (more like holding my hand). Thank you Michelle…I’m grateful.
There was so much to learn, but like a dog with a bone, I was determined to make this work. And I think I’ve done a pretty good job. Thanks to everyone who reads my blog, who comments, who shares and who celebrates knitting (and life) with me.
This coming year is going to be a full and wonderful one and I’m really looking forward to it. So many bloggers get tired of doing this. They get tired of the pressure (I think self imposed) of posting, maintaining and in many cases putting their lives “out there”. It does take dedication but the return makes it worth it.
So anyway, as promised, let’s get to the gift giving. A few weeks ago I posted a riddle which all of you solved, correctly. As I said if you answered the riddle or left a comment anytime between then and today there would be some goodies to be had. I also said I’d announce the winner tomorrow but why wait.
The winners are…Carolyn (who’s become a very good friend), Jessica (who gets a special thank you for introducing me to Ravelry last year at camp) and Maritza (for noticing my new banner). Your gifts will be mailed asap ladies (and if you have a preference let me know). Hope you enjoy!!!
Now this is a blogoversary and it wouldn’t be a celebration without something sweet to eat. WARNING: You may be tempted to lick your computer screens.
As soon as I saw them I knew I had to make them, home made Oreo cookies. And YUM doesn’t even come close to describing these. While I was making them my entire apartment (and fifth floor hallway) smelled like heaven!! Even my neighbors were curious.
I can’t tell you how much fun these were to make. I posted a link to the recipe a couple of days/posts ago. Give them a try, you’ll love them. For those of you attending the street fair in Tarrytown tomorrow I may have one or two left.
I think the best part aside from the eating was putting them together. It was a bit time consuming but when you’re eating and assembling you hardly notice the time passing.
All in all my friends…a wonderful year (awesome dessert) and I look forward to more. Thanks everyone!
FO pictures tomorrow…
Um, yum? I wish I lived on your fifth floor – er, in your apartment. You know, for the assembling and the eating! I showed Nate a pic of the cookies and he’s quite keen on me making some. Twist my arm, little man, twist my arm!
Duran Duran! Good grief that takes me back t the painful age of JProm and scooping ice cream at Baskin Robbins and being at the public pool. Ah, the 80s!
I’ve been thinking about you quite often. Can you play one day?
xoxoxo
I won! 🙂 Thanks.
I am so jealous of your DD concert. I saw them at Madison Square Garden in 1984. My dad had to take me. But he also took three of my friends and then hired a limo to pick us up after the concert and take us to Serendipity for dessert.
Sweetheart,
Congratulations on your blogaversary! I love you with all my heart and soul, but i do have one question…….i just came home from working a 24 hr shift and i’m wondering why are there only 4 cookies left in the house yet on the blog there’s a whole plate full?!?!?!?! AND DON’T YOU DARE BLAME IT ON MY PUPPIES! 🙂
Those cookies did sound wonderful! I’m going to have to make me some soon. After seeing your hubby’s post, I’m thinking that you may need to make some more too for him.
Congratulations on your Blogoversary! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog this year (well, since camp – so almost a year) and am excited to see what the new blogging year will bring from you.
Looking forward to seeing you again at camp.
I love your cookies, I love your blog, I love you! Not necessarily in that order. You are such an awesome, wonderful, amazing person and I’m glad you are here. Thank you for all you do.
Congratulations! You have a great blog, visually gorgeous, rich with content and a perfect glimpse into your life.
The cookies……YUM….so glad I rolled out of bed for some early Sunday shop-knitting….who knew I would get to knit AND get a delicious treat????
Congratulations! I can’t believe it’s been a year. And, I can’t believe you ate all of the cookies too!
Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for teaching me to knit and being such an inspiration. You have given me a gift that will last a lifetime and for that I am truly grateful.
