I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!! We just relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company. We also did a bit of antiquing on Sunday morning at the Elephant’s Trunk Flea Market in CT. It was not as big as in past years but still fun.
Ok…confession…please don’t judge me…I know I have a problem and will seek help (someday)…
I bought another sewing machine!!!!
I’ll save you the brains cells, this one makes 7…Lucky 7 (and probably my hint to stop).
I was honestly minding my own business walking with my hubby, daughter and in-laws when I heard it…my name being whispered very sweetly. I turned my head and there it was. I practically ran over to it.
A portable Singer in what appears to be pretty good working condition.
Isn’t she the cutest, little ol’ thang! I had to have her!
She definitely has some weight to her but very carry-able. This girl is going to find a home right next to Big B. I’ve already cleared a space, just as soon as she gets back from being cleaned and spruced up. I swear it feels like I’m single-handedly keeping Hartsdale Fabrics in business.
So here is the story…This was the first of 3 portable Singers I saw on Sunday. This one was “$125, the 2nd was $295 (not as good condition but it had the attachments and manual) and the 3rd was $275 (same as the first). I walked the entire market thinking and trying to justify/rationalize, etc. Chris finally said just go buy it!!!! Yes, I have the best husband…ever! I went back to find the first vendor and he was away from the table. I waited, beat off a couple of other potential buyers, even wrestled it out of someone’s hands (kidding…not really. Finally he showed up, apologized for make keeping me waiting and said wow, people are selling these for $ 200 and $300. I said yeah, I saw that…so can you do a little better on this one…PAUSE!!! How about $100…SOLD!!!!!
Now she’s all mine!!! Considering this is National Sewing Month (one more reason to love September) it seems quite fitting. It’s also my birthday month.
Happy Birthday to me!
On a side note…Henry’s quilt is in the mail and mom left a very sweet, teary comment…I’m so happy right now!!!
On to the next reader quilt and another little quick project…

I love it! Good for you for buying it. You would have regretted it if you walked away. Sometimes you just have to do what makes you happy. Life is too short not to buy cute sewing machines. And besides, you got a GREAT deal!
A little bit of an issue, but such a fun one. Have you made projects on your other ones yet. E.g. Mini quilts or pot holders from each machine?
I’ll always regret the treadle machine I didn’t buy. I don’t even know if it worked. But it would have made a delightful conversation piece.
Did you look up your machine’s serial number to see how old i is?
