It’s a strange rule, I know, but before I start another project I really wanted to get some UFO off the list. Here’s one…
I started this so long ago (June to be exact) then it sat and sat but it’s done now and I’m moving onto the next.
When Kira first saw it she called it ABC Animals so the name stays.
Thank you Mother Nature for the lovely background.
This is a panel from Timeless Treasures, it’s so vivid and rich. I wanted to keep the quilting to a minimum to really bring out the detail.
I outlined each “box” and I think the effect really works, especially on the back.
Have I mentioned how much I love the walking foot on the Bernina. Not only are the stitches smooth and even but it’s so quiet.
It’s so time-consuming but I really love the look of binding a quilt by hand.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love to quilt.
When things line up just right, it makes me so happy.
I couldn’t have matched this up any better.
Kira just lies on this and studies each picture. I love to watch her learn, you can almost see the wheels in her little brain turning.
On the next long overdue project.

You and I are in tune tonight again. We must have both been writing blog posts at the same time.
This quilt is perfect for Kira. It’s like a book in a quilt. I can just imagine laid on it with her feet in the air studying each picture. There is so much detail in fabric and girl, you matching those corners up perfectly! You rock!
I can feel your love for quilting and it’s contagious. Makes me want to pull out the wip’s that I have and get them finished. Sadly my binding by hand always makes me get butterflies in my stomach. Not sure why. Maybe you should come on over and help. Wouldn’t a long weekend in the woods at the cabin quilting and knitting sound like heaven????
It’s quilts like this that make me wish I could quilt. That is beautiful!
Ada has this quilt, too — a family friend HAND-quilted so beautifully around all the figures! We haven’t taken it out of the closet in a while, though. Thanks for the reminder… I bet she’d really like pointing at all the animals now and saying their names/sounds.
Another fantastic job, my friend. What a beautiful quilt! No wonder Kira loves it so much. Now what you can do is collect small objects from the around the house that begin with those letters and have Kira lay the objects on the correct letter. Make sure you go with the phonetic sound, not name of the letter. Sorry, that’s the Montessori part of me coming out….
Oh my goodness that is soooo adorable! I really love your choices of fabric – they go so well together. The animals prints are so cute
