After knitting on #0 and #1 size needles for so long, to pick up Vivian again on size #8 feels like I’m knitting with tree trunks. I thought it was time to finish this beauty and maybe even wear it before the end of the season. Considering how much snow we are getting these days there is plenty of time.
I was knitting this so feverishly to get ready for last year’s sheep and wool festival but then we decided not to go because the weather was suppose to be so wet and cold. To tote a 5 month old around in such weather would have been selfish on my part. So I just tossed it all in my knitting bag, very disappointed and forgot about it. But it’s time. I want a new sweater and I need to give my hands a rest from the tiny needles.
I’ve also started listening to the Mists of Avalon again on my Ipod. I have no idea why. I’ve had an on again, off again relationship with this book for a number of years now. It’s like I don’t want to finish it and I pull it out to keep me company every now and then. Actually I think listening to it made me want to pick up Vivian again. They are the perfect companions for me right now and each other.
I just can’t resist that sleeve…
I think this is also my Ravelympics challenge too, to finish this sweater although I won’t actually make it official. No pressure that way…

That sleeve is particularly enticing. I love the way it bells out at the cuff. Keep knitting!
Very pretty! I can’t tell the true color of the yarn though – is it a magenta or more of a purple? Purple has been my favorite color this winter. It seems to lift my spirits, especially when the weather is so gloomy. Will we ever get through the Mists of Avalon? I’ve tried several times too, but just can’t seem to read that darn book. All in good time….BTW, I’ve found another way to eat the toffee — crumble it up and use it as a topping for ice cream. YUM!
Thanks for the book suggestions the other day.
I remember that Mists of Avalon was the book that I took on the plane with me when I flew over to the states, December 1991, when I was moving here. Brings back memories. I loved it. Perfect audio reading for knitting Vivian.
I love seed stitch and cables–so that sweater is amazing!
That is a beautiful sweater – and I love the sleeve too! Its a great project to finish for the Ravelympics – and I’m looking forward to seeing more of it!
I just gotta say WOW! Can’t wait to see a pic of you wearing it. WOW
