All of me is in love with my currents projects but my hands are about to stage a rebellion. Between the #0 needles for the socks and the #11s for the coat I’m not sure which is causing more pain. This is actually starting to freak me out a bit…you don’t realize how much you rely on , depend on, need, trust in something until it stops working or works with less efficiency. Now, I know I should take a rest for a few days but I also know that is not going to happen. I’ll just knit through the pain…yes, I can hear you all warning me. OK, I’ll rest for an hour or two. That sounds reasonable to me…
Pattern: Earl Grey by the Yarn Harlot
Yarn: Araucania Ranco Solid in Brick
Amount: 1 skein
Needles: #0s (Addis)
Pattern: Aran Coat by Elizabeth Zimmerman
Yarn: Araucania Nature Wool Chunky, #121 Brown (chocolate)
Amount: Still in progress. And I am holding 2 strands together.
Needle: #11 (Addis)
Interesting…I just realized that I’m using Araucania for both projects. Both yarns are awesome….I highly recommend them. The place I linked to for the chunky is out of the #121 Brown/Chocolate…why do I know that because I ordered them all. Sorry…

Maybe knit more loosely? or hold the needles more loosely? or try a different gauge project? Dunno, but hope your hands feel better soon!
I love the aran coat in that color!
I’m loving the aran coat. Is that a close-up on the header on your blog. Beautiful!! Is the plan to have the coat completed in time for show and tell at camp? I think it would be a winner.
I have been wearing wrist braces when I do my beadwork and felting and that helps a lot. Just a little support goes a long way. They ain’t sexy, but hey.
The aran coat is looking absolutely gorgeous! As to the hand pain, I can relate. I spend far too much time on my laptop and knitting (though I wish I could get the two amount of time to switch, more knit, less surf) and have touches of carpel tunnel syndrome, or something.
Think about how you are holding your hands, the angles and the amount of tension. Take breaks and do something completely different, like cuddle with that marvelous husband of yours! Braces are not always a good thing because the angle of the metal plate is generalized and not specific to the wearer so be careful with those.
Okay I really need to knit now.
