…Here’s the original…
…Here’s my muse…
…Here’s my version…
Pattern: See above
Yarn: STR Oregon Red Clover Honey (STR Lightweight)
Amount: 1 skein (with some left over)
Needles: Add #1 Circulars (2 circ method)
Modifications: The only thing I changed was leaving out the lace. Another awesome Cookie A pattern.
This may shock some of you and I’m not sure I can even say it…I’m not sure I really like Socks That Rock yarn. Please don’t throw things at your computers (and indirectly at me). This is the second pair of socks I’ve made with this yarn, both patterns contained ribbing and the result was the same. The ribbing is just not a snug as I would like. It’s almost as if the sock starts to loose shape. I put these socks on and put my foot in my Danskos and the sock bunched up at the mouth of the shoe. Just not tight enough, but they felt great sliding on. I’ve gone down a needle size and there wasn’t a major difference. I’ve also used both the medium and lightweight versions, going down a needle size for each… And is it just me or is there a slightly cotton feel to this yarn. I dont’ know how to explain what I mean. Knitters have touched the socks while I was knitting them and asked if it was a blend of wool and cotton or just cotton. Now I still have skeins of this yarn from when it first arrived on the knitting scene, this is 5 or 6 years ago and it was so different then. To me it felt alot like Jitterbug by Colinette. But then it changed, maybe to meet demand or it got an ”upgrade”, I don’t know. I’m going to try again of course but this time I’m going to try just a plain sock, small needles and see how that works. I have so much of this yarn it would be shame to not make it work.

The socks look great and if you ever want to get rid of your Socks That Rock…
The sock looks great. I love the color. Yet another pattern to add to the queue.
As for the Socks That Rock – I’m right behind Jessica on taking some of it off your hands (seeing as you have 50+ skeins of sock yarn – I’m very jealous). My STR socks haven’t lasted that long once made before getting holes, but then I always wear handmade socks with boots, so they tend to wear a little quicker.
Maybe the next time, you’ll have a better experience.
Wow! They came out great! I have this pattern waiting for me to knit up, too. Unfortunately, I have a big line of socks waiting to be finished first!
I’ve never been a muse before… perhaps I should be paid… perhaps in Socks that Rock? (totally kidding). Excellent work on the socks, and wasn’t it so much less want-to-poke-your-eye-out without the lace panels?
