So this was my sixth year attending the sheep and wool festival and I pretty much have it down to a science. I know no one is going to believe me but I’m not an impulse shopper. Yeah I’ll see something, pair of shoes, jeans, lamp for the living room whatever and most of the time I just walk away…think, think and think then maybe I’ll go back for it. I believe in the ”if it’s still there then it’s meant to be” theory of shopping. But when you attend a once a year event like this one you have to consider that what you see may not be there in the next five minutes. If you say to yourself well I’ll going back after I pass through all the “barns”…you can forget it. That gorgeous skein of whatever is going to be long gone.
So this is why I drag my family up there so darn early so I can get the good stuff…
Like I need more freaking sock yarn……..of course I do!
From left to right: Gibson, Chickadiddy (light weight), Olive Garden, Mustang Sally, Beryl, Gingerbread Dude (all the rest are medium weight)…Don’t panic people, the Beryl is for a pair for my sister…
I arrived at The Fold’s booth by 9:20am and I grabbed (politely) all the colors that caught my eye then put my Mum on line and whet back to put some back and swap for others. The above is my catch…absolutely gorgeous!
Here’s some more stuff:
The is called Grandma’s Blessing from Briar Rose Fibers. Last year I found them at the end of the festival and had just run out of money. So I planned and saved for this year…now you’re probably wondering, then why is that all I bought…because I’m an idiot and said “if there is more when I pass back that way….” IDIOT!!!!! Each skein has about 450 yards and I’m thinking Baby Surprise Jacket (for later…no I have nothing to share in that department yet) and for now a hat and gloves…
I love my 2007 NYS Sheep and Wool calendar and just had to have one for next year. I also couldn’t resist a tote bag from the place where my spinning wheel came from. On the left is a pattern for mittens from Green Mountain Spinnery.
And another tote in case all of the other 2,756 tote bags I own are being used.
This is called Marshmallow & Fudge, it’s about 3oz. of Corriedale & Border Leicester roving…I just had to have it.
Now we haven’t discussed my roving and top stash yet but I will soon. In the meantime I saw this and thought if that doesn’t get my wheel spinning then nothing will. My poor, neglected girl…my dad bought her for me about 3 years ago and honestly I haven’t really used her…it’s a sin…
Just look at her, she’s beautiful and just begging for attention but every time I approach my needles beckon. Soon, I promise, soon…
There is more to the catch of the day but it was purchased by my hubby…mostly wine (really amazing wine), cheese, fudge, pepper sauce, etc…yarn, fiber and food! YUM!
So I think I did well, got what I wanted but didn’t go nuts…I’m happy.
Can’t wait for next year…Same Bat time, same Bat place.

It looks like you helped to support the vendors admirably. I love the socks that rocks yarn, but that Briar Rose looks heavenly. I’ll have to dig around and see if I can find them anywhere online.
Glad you enjoyed yourself.
